Hey everyone, All the kids are out of school getting ready for the Christmas holiday. We have put together a short Christmas list for the kids to enjoy this holiday...and of course they are RainbowMe Approved style!

This version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas", In this version a little girl receives gifts from a secret amiga, whose identity is a sweet surprise at the book's conclusion. There are things to find and count in Spanish on every page, with pronunciations provided right in the pictures and a glossary and music following the story. This joyous fiesta will warm even the coldest of hearts.

A delightful and charming story celebrating Christmas in Lagos, a modern West African city.  This picture book explores the sights and sounds of Lagos at Christmas through the eyes and words of a little Nigerian girl writing a Christmas journal.

(from Amazon.com)  In My Name Is Yoon, Yoon’s parents encouraged her to write her name in English instead of Korean. Now it’s Yoon’s turn to teach her parents about something she’s learned in America. When Yoon’s teacher lends her a book about Santa Claus, Yoon can’t wait to show it to her parents. To Yoon’s disappointment, though, her mother responds, “We are not a Christmas family.” As Christmas Eve approaches, Yoon learns more and more about this exciting holiday. But no matter how hard she tries to convince her parents to sing Christmas songs or put up Christmas stockings, they always say no. A determined Yoon soon realizes that she must use her own “Shining Wisdom” to persuade her parents that they can indeed be a Christmas family. Distinctive and glowing pictures with brushstrokes echoing Renoir accompany this charming story that rings true and reaches deep.

(from Amazon.com) Every year, Radim's family has a delicious carp for Christmas dinner, selected from the huge wooden barrels that line the streets of Prague in December. But this year, when Radim sits by the bathtub feeding breadcrumbs to the fish that his father has chosen, he sees more than a delectable meal. In Carl the Christmas Carp, Ian Krykorka writes a story drawn from his mother's childhood and from life in present day Prague as well. In the vibrant illustrations, Vladyana Krykorka lovingly recreates the city of her birth and her youth, down to the last glorious detail.

(from Amazon.com) In Mexico, the poinsettia is called flor de la Nochebuenao flower of the Holy Night. At Christmastime, the flower blooms and flourishes, the quite exquisite red stars lighting up the countryside. This Mexican legend tells how the poinsettia came to be, through a little girl's unselfish gift to the Christ Child. Beloved Newbery honor-winning author and Caldecott honor-winning illustrator Tomie dePaola has embraced the legend using his own special feeling for Christmas. His glorious paintings capture not only the brilliant colors of Mexico and its art, but also the excitement of the children preparing for Christmas and the hope of Lucida, who comes to see what makes a gift truly beautiful.

... and the best for last, something to bring it all together. (from Amazon) "Walk This World at Christmas Time" is a composite of global cultures, Walk this World at Christmas Time celebrates the similarities, as well as the exotic differences in the way people celebrate Christmas around the globe. Travel to a new continent or country with every turn of the page, it's the perfect christmas gift.   Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays everyone!
